A proposed solution to this situation is to establish more free lending libraries, or book gardens in dry zones.

A post-literate society is a society where multimedia has advanced to the point where literacy is no longer necessary or common.
A post-literate society would replace all written word with recorded sounds, spoken word and music, pictures and aliteracy (those who can read but choose not to.)
Pivot to Video
Pivot to Video is a phrase remarking on a trend, starting in 2015 where media publishers cut staff resources for the written word, in favor of short-form video content pushed on social media platforms.
Thought
I’ve always considered, in addition to the format, if it’s predicated by analytics as a gauge for success. As in, short form content can be tautologically experienced in shorter chunks, so there are more view counts - therefore bigger numbers to report.
If I say, “my video has 10000 views, as is 1 minute long ” versus, “my video has 100 views, but all of my viewers have watched my forty five minute video to completion” these are two different outcomes.
The Focal Point - Schelling point has become the easy to understand view count, over something meaningful such as grokking a subject.
