Thinking about scribes and how they were close to the pen and their writings: their precise care of books, as singular objects.
What if I had one keyboard all of my life? I was cleaning off this keyboard that I hadn’t use in a while, but I had used it daily over the course of many months.
The keys were white. I had to clean it because there was noticeable dirt on frequently used keys. I keep my hands clean, but just through the contact with my hands, I imparted dirt and oils on them.
I thought if this with the scribe on my mind, as if I kept a book that I had made over years or used the same pen. The scribe would want to be aware of the marks on the pages, and precise care for them. The movement of the pages and contact with that hands would cause similar blemishes to what I removed from my keyboard.
We have access to so much, and replacement feels easy and is encouraged.
Even deeper, what if I kept my first computer. It doesn’t seem possible with computer security and compatibility.
What if the only, came back more.
