Arranged in the gifts to my niece, Eva is this strange creature.

A lot of child toys are inexplicable alien creatures. They are also often cute and come in “non-natural” colors, like an alien pastel. They are often chimerical, but it isn’t always necessary. The features can be entirely non-natural.

Just think of the Furby.¹

Kids have the most contact with these inexplicable, imaginary creatures.

I don’t think that most adults have contact with aliens whatsoever (in such a tangible way).
