Yūgen is a Japanese concept that I like to read about so I’m periodically looking for books (“Snow in a Silver Bowl: A Quest for the World of Yūgen” is really good).
So I was picking up a few books to read and noticed there was a new one available, on 2024. I blindly picked it up, in the mood. As I am leafing through this thin volume, I notice that it’s repeating itself a bit, with really clunky “in this chapter I’ll be covering…” with odd headings (initially saying “hmm, automatic translation?“) Then I notice certain encoded characters, like Yūgen are formatted incorrectly. Immediately suspicious, I check the author’s other books and one appears to be “Samurai Marketing” Dude is AI. First time I’m properly duped with a book purchase, lusting after further Yūgen texts.
