I was teaching someone to copy and paste on the ipad. She uses it every day but didn’t use this feature. She press and held the string of on screen text (that awkward finicky sense to it, even to “advanced” users) and began the gesture to transfer to another window.

But what was interesting (and she commented on this, as we both realized together) was that when doing the spayed hand gesture she held her hand as if it was “loaded” with the copy and touching the finger to the glass would “expend” the paste. Her mental model had embodied her pointer finger with the text. Maniculed!

Actually funny to think the ipad doesn’t have any pointer system (cursor is gone), but ends up using the the index finger.

Now, with this hidden gesture revealed virtually, I am wondering what kind of analogous real world esoteric pointing can be done, to unlock chambers of reality?

Is it the problem with these hidden gestural input mechanisms. They make up a strange learned dialect for the operating system.
