Have you ever encountered the Wolpertinger? |
In German folklore, a wolpertinger (also called wolperdinger or woiperdinger) is an animal said to inhabit the alpine forests of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany.
I had read about it in a folklore book last night.
I see that it might be sourced from Shope Papilloma virus (suspect some taxidermists had a hand as well). I will keep images of that out, but the virus is also called Kappapapillomavirus which sounds way to playful for how aberrant it is, growths resembling horns on rabbit-kin.
Wolpertinger depictions end up looking surreal. In reality an afflicted life.
But truly, German taxidermy and plague - the final bastion of AI proof art?
The physical manifestation here, so strange and tactile will be hard to reproduce in the open air.
