NOTE

I had written this first segment in 2023.

It’s cool to see “Spotted Laternflies” as a concept permeating culture. See this image with caption “What the heck are these bugs my cat keeps eating?”

Years??! Before a month ago I’d never heard of them. […] Guess spreading awareness ain’t a bad thing still. You dont know everything everyone else may know, despite being seemingly obvious to those who do know, and not everyone knows what you know.

In a post-tree world, lanternflies emerging from corpse mouths, “Anyone else notice these strange things?” Not saying there’s inherent wrongness to being late to information (gaps of my own everywhere) but this fly is curious in the invasive nature mirroring. I personally can’t place my first contact…

Avoiding Superbowl

I had heard of this game to play. When the Superbowl occurs, you try as much as you can to avoid any knowledge of the victor. This turns out to be quite difficult. I’ve failed this last year.

As a deeper challenge: try to avoid any knowing of who is performing at the halftime show.

Eclipse

The 2024 NY Eclipse I had know of for years. As it was occurring it was curious to see people learn about it.

I truly wondered if there would be people who were traveling about their day, and just stumble upon a complete eclipse. They are completely clueless as the sky darkens. Surely this happened to someone.

What is the nature of their information network?

Election 2024

Hearing after the election about voters who were unaware the Biden had dropped off the Presidential Ballot, and people believing Pence was still Trump’s VP. These people are voting with equal measure to an informed vote.
