Thought
I thought about what I’d do at Yoko’s cut piece event. I would cut my own clothes, the length of my jeans, to make a pair of shorts. Then I’d make a sleeve for her. Or cut my excess to still provide, or make something new that we could share.
Yoko Ono - Music of the Mind
Whisper your desire to the wind. Ask the wind to take it to the end of the world. Ceiling Painting, where visitors climbed a ladder to discover the word “YES” on a piece of paper suspending from the ceiling only visible through magnifying glass.
Ono’s Wish Tree draws upon the Japanese tradition of writing wishes on paper and tying them to small trees in Buddhist temples. Ono asks participants to make a wish, write the wish down, and tie it to the branch of a wish tree, and then to keep wishing until the branches are covered with wishes. The wishes are preserved and continue on in connection with the IMAGINE PEACE TOWER in Iceland. These wishes translate Ono’s belief that the mind has the power to realize good through the act of visualization and collective action, “Power works in mysterious ways. We don’t have to do much. Visualize the domino effect and just start thinking PEACE. Thoughts are infectious. Send it out. The message will circulate faster than you think.”
John Cage dedicated the premiere of his 0’00” in 1962 to Both Ono and Ichiyanagi.

But you know, some people come to me and say, “Did you know that was my birthday?” or, “Did you know that we got married that day?” or something, without knowing it or whatever. And it seems like every date means something to somebody.
Ono’s Hide and Seek:
Hide until everybody goes home. Hide until everybody forgets about you. Hide until everybody dies.
Shadow Piece Survey of Shadows
20 participants lay on a long piece of cloth which Ono then traced their outlines, or shadows. The resulting image and its effect, especially in such a location, rendered the split or doubled body as a remnant or trace, summoning up the imprints of the bodies left after the nuclear blasts in Japan. Put your shadows together till they become one.
