I encountered this image browsing the web, being posted in a community of people nostalgic for the 90s that I was being targeted for.
Holiday Shopping at the Mall
I was immediately suspicious but the commenters were sharing sentiments of nostalgia over what they believed to be a real photograph.
God that picture brings me back.
Miss these days…
Certain things appeared off
- asymmetrical placement of the trees
- peculiar human figures
- text inscrutability
- strange light hangings
- aberrant ornament reflections
My hunch was right and a google lens search returned a Midjourney sourced image.
I just thought it was fitting that these people were longing for something lost, a place in our collective memory and finding a bit of it in this dreamy lie of sorts.
