Besides my personal photographs and videos (which are supremely valuable to me), I have a digital album called “moments.”

It must be a common thing.

Whenever I am on the computer watching something, like a movie or even a Youtube video, if that scene (from 5 seconds to a minute) calls to me in way that it should be in this folder, I put it there.

I perform a screengrab and capture it.

It has ended up being a valuable exercise for me and something I cherish. It is completely hidden to the world, but I feel on some level it speaks to my interests and wants in a less cerebral and convoluted way than words. Simple things.

Like some snow falling down a stairwell in a film.

A quite and tender moment that is forgotten in some vlog.

or

Someone who loves the person on camera, but is only a shadow in the frame.

Joe Pera understands this concept. It is the heart of the finest episode “joe pera watches internet videos with you.”
