Collection of DJ mixes I made. These are mostly from 2012-14.

They were saved from a drive failure but thought long lost.

Unfortunately the quotes/poems and tracklists that came with them did get lost. Some art remains that I’ll upload if I find the time.

Update

Wow! Once thought lost, I’ve found many of the associated art pieces and quotes that I used to accompany these. That’s fascinating.

The quote were sourced mostly from books I had read at the time.

“If you can see a thing whole,“ he said, “it seems that it’s always beautiful. Planets, lives… . But close up, a world’s all dirt and rocks. And day to day, life’s a hard job, you get tired, you lose the pattern. You need distance, interval. The way to see how beautiful earth is, is to see it from the moon. The way to see how beautiful life is, is from the vantage point of death.”
“That’s all right for Urras. Let it stay off there and be the moon-I don’t want it! But I am not going to stand up on a gravestone and look down on life and say, ‘O lovely!’ I want to see it whole right in the middle of it, here, now. I don’t give a hoot for eternity.”
“It’s nothing to do with eternity,” said Shevek, grinning, a thin shaggy man of silver and shadow. “All you have to do to see life as a whole is to see it as mortal. I’ll die, you’ll die; how could we love each other otherwise? The sun’s going to burn out, what else keeps it shining?”
“Ah! your talk, your damned philosophy!”
“Talk? It’s not talk. It’s not reason. It’s hand’s touch. I touch the wholeness, I hold it. Which is moonlight, which is Takver? How shall I fear death? When I hold it, when I hold in my hands the light-”
    “Don’t be propertarian,” Takver muttered.
    “Dear heart, don’t cry.”
“I’m not crying. You are. Those are your tears.”
    “I’m cold. The moonlight’s cold.”
    “Lie down.”
A great shiver went through his body as she took him in her arms.
    “I’m afraid, Takver,” he whispered.”

  • muse

“Like you’re riding a train at night across some vast plain, and you
catch a glimpse of a tiny light in a window of a farmhouse. In an
instant it’s sucked back into the darkness behind and vanishes. But
if you close your eyes, that point of light stays with you, just
    barely for a few moments.”

  • nether

“Luminous night. Nothing hides in such a night! What rare light is this darkness? You cannot fix your gaze upon it! Senses cannot record it. No words describe it. The abyss remains. It is pregnant with all the things yet to be.”

  • nive

We were off; no sign there was of anyone come to hurry me home.

“The land in his face never ends. Nothing’s here for him, except maybe me. He touches me but believes he is nothing.”

  • orbit
  • orbiter

“We humans are an extremely important manifestation of the replication bomb, because it is through us - through our brains, our symbolic culture and our technology - that the explosion may proceed to the next stage and reverberate through deep space.”

  • passage

“The sun sank with a sob and darkness waded in from all horizons so that the sky contracted and there was no more light left in the world, when, at this very moment of annihilation, the moon, as though she had been waiting for her cue, sailed up the night.”

  • sorryvoyage

“We’re both looking at the same moon, in the same world. We’re connected to reality by the same line. All I have to do is quietly draw it towards me.”

  • station

Try to believe (seeing it all-at-once, dusk).
    It’s even beautiful here.

  • time being
  • underset

    “I dreamed a dream: I stood upon a height,
A mountain’s utmost eminence of snow.
    Beholding ashen plains outflung below
To a far sea-horizon, dim and white.
Beneath the spectral sun’s expiring light
    The world lay shrouded in a deathly glow;
    Its last fear-laden voice, a wind, came low;
The distant sea lay hushed, as with affright.

I watched, until the pale and flickering sun,
In agony and fierce despair, flamed high,
And shadow-slain, went out upon the gloom.
Then Night, that war of gulf-born Titans won,
Impended for a breath on wings of doom,
And through the air fell like a falling sky.”

  • unwant

A face of darkness is so peaceful.

  • variant

“You might think on this: when a star is reflected in a river, you can pick up the water and the light in your hand and be holding part of the star itself.“

There was a brief play of symbols, and then emptiness—an emptiness flooded with even white light.

The sound came again. There was a whistle to it, and a moan. It was almost a hiss, and it could’ve been a strangled gasp. Above all, it was quiet, and it seemed to have no source. It whispered.
