A cave or tunnel as a symbol of transference. Time travel. Wormholes, “tunnels” through space. A rough theory I was thinking is the property of a cave as completely occluding the external. You exist in the slow time of the cave, unware of the exterior. Vision/senses is just the tunnel (tunnel vision) Your movement is constrained, directed. It is you and the cave. It also appeals to the unknown. The dark unexplored.
There is this common aesthetic with stuff like Primer, Tenet, QB, others of like shoddily constructed warehouse but highly advanced tech time travel. Unassumingly advanced. I wonder what’s the source of that.
