Some thoughts about taking a picture of a tree almost every day.

It was difficult to take a picture when nobody was in frame. I wanted this to be about the tree and not humans. I knew this would be a problem when the weather got warmer so I tried to alter the time when I took the photos to be in the morning, or before lunch (where people will sit by the tree.)

Like Improvement to social media I realized that I was broadcasting my position by virtue of this documentation. Conceivably if my project were known, someone could come visit me at this point (even in a time travel sense, I’m fixed.) I imagined a scenario where at first I was taking a picture of a tree. Then someone knew when and where and decided to join me, they entered the picture. Then more, and more people joined - till the scene was filled to the brim with onlookers, who now became subjects more than the tree.

In general, chairs cluster. You can also see when workers would shift the chairs, like when facilities would clear snow and shift the chairs. This arrangement was different than one that would be for speaking or sharing a meal together.

When I stopped taking pictures of the tree every day, I missed doing so. Every time I passed, and did not take a picture, I felt like I was missing out on some process.

You never know when to stop once you begin.
