A movie that is science fiction and explicitly violates the show don’t tell rule with an information dump from the characters.
But this act of telling, is false and throughout the course of the film the Holes in the concept become apparent, and jarring. The expectations the watcher was prime for, and all of these rules and in fact subtly warped, and then completely wrong.
The expectation is subverted, and the inelegance which it was conveyed (telling, not showing) was a ruse.
