Nonsense
The assistant device in the kitchen is constantly listening. Occasionally it will flash an attract screen that shows what your “shopping list” is, a feature that I don’t use. But I wanted to see what was on it out of curiosity.
Some things that were listed were:
- Beyond the table
- Two tissues
- Bags
- Play football pics
- Me
- Stevens
- Body diet Dew
This nonsense list must be the result of the voice recognition misinterpreting commands are hearing a keyword, or overheard conversation and then placing the phonetically adjacent items it autocompletes into the list.
Parchment paper
Normally I’ll mentally hold my entire shopping list, unless I am making something in particular that requires specific out of the ordinary ingredients.
In those cases where specific critical items are needed I’ll find whatever paper is nearby, and casually use it.
What I did one day was reverse this casual process. I took out my calligraphy set and spent some time writing my grocery list in thick blackletter. When I finished I rolled it up, and tied it like a scroll to be delivered to the king.
I’m not sure I would do it again but unfurling the paper like a I was about to issue a decree to all other shoppers gave me momentary satisfaction that I would not have experienced otherwise, despite it going unnoticed.
