When I pass by a large field that has been freshly cut, I see the tracks of the cut. If I were the owner of the property, looking at my worker, I could see the exact path of their day. There is direct evidence of their effort that I can reconstruct.
A player playing guitar reveals the keys to constructing their song. I can watch anyone playing, and learn from playing. It all becomes educational. Compare this to an electronic track. The keys to creating it seem more revealed, embedded in the performance.
NOTE
Finger syncing also exists, analogous to lip syncing. The performance of the hands is acted instead of actually performing live.
