Track down all the leaves of a tree. Do this as a retired, lonely man in the fall with a notebook and a favored pencil. Do this as a shared project with someone who loves a tree.
First draw the tree as a simple sketch, alone or together.
Then created a method of classifying each leaf on the tree such as the location on the tree, the time of emergence, deformations etc. Traits that point toward uniqueness.
Then as the leaves are removed from the tree (a storm, the onset of fall etc) spend the day tracking them down. Mark their spatial positions. But do not touch.
Particularly follow the most “adventurous” or far flying leaves, rather than dedicating the day to ones that remain close. Though there could be some enjoyment out of the most mundane ones though, such as a cluster attracted to a fence as the result of reoccurring gust. One might be dislodged and cause a memorable chase.
