As the characters come from him, they cannot be separated from his own preferences.
In Frame Printing: Shot at 12FPS and then doubling each frame. When displayed at typical 24FPS each second contains the frame twice, resulting in “rough, experimental” effect where time feels distorted.
In “In The Mood For Love” foreground is used to further distance the the viewer from the characters.
