In a recent Oklou interview she spoke about something that I had been thinking about, since Long pauses.
In “Obvious” the lyrics go
Flowers grow quietly (on and on) Forces in everything (I can’t see) Speak louder than me (I know they will)
We view flowers as something that is delicate, and easily destroyed.
But paradoxically there feels like there is a kind of strength to a flower that you see existing. It’s defiant and persisting, within this gentleness. You see a flower and there’s almost an invisible past shield around it.
Similarly, think of the natural forces that are part of this world that allow a flower to grow. The flowers are the result of an entire earth of processes. Attempt to stop this cycle, as a single person without the aid of technology. You cannot.
Thinking to guitar and song, it’s easy to yell and be abrasive. The default of an unpracticed guitarist is to rush through the song. Only after much practice does gentleness become possible. You learn dynamics and how to express and use intensity (quite intensity or loud intensity).
If you yell, and brute force - it’ll only get you so far. You will always be toppled. Everyone sees this.
You got pretty much everything you need to get by (Isn’t it obvious?) You get pretty lost when you try to figure it out (It’s so obvious) (You got pretty much everything you need) Speak louder than me It’s so obvious It’s so obvious
I understand there’s survivor bias, but maybe I am thinking of it like this scene: a knight without armor.
